Our Preschool Program – Rosebuds and Pre-Kindergarten

The Rosebud Curriculum is developed and aligned with the Rhode Island Early Learning Development Standards (RIELDS). Our curriculum is based on the premise that children are naturally curious about their environment and play is the essential ingredient. We foster curiosity and creativity by taking into account children’s abilities and interests similar to a Reggio Emilio Approach. The classroom environment is carefully designed to reflect the children’s interests and to cultivate positive self-esteem, independence, and critical thinking skills. The teachers at St.Rose of Lima School guide our students on this road to discovery with RIELDS, Diocesan Math Standards, Handwriting Without Tears Program and assessments along the 8 domains of learning: Physical Health & Motor Development, Social & Emotional, Language Development, Cognitive Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Creative Arts.

Handwriting Without Tears:

Handwriting is taught using the Handwriting Without Tears Program. This program incorporates short, effective lessons into the school day. These lessons are developmentally appropriate that support children’s reading, writing, language use, and critical thinking skills. Children will learn how to create capital letters using multisensory tools. Through guidance and assistance, children will be able to succeed in school, and write with ease.
